Waste Reduction

Waste Reduction

Keep Fiji Beautiful - Waste ReductionSinclair Knight Merz (2000) study indicated that a large amount of waste per year is produced in rural areas in Fiji that does not get collected or properly disposed. Since most of the waste is not collected, it finds its way through the water ways and lands on our beaches and foreshore areas

That is why the Keep Fiji Beautiful Campaign will implement more strongly the use of the 3R’s in the disposal world, Recycle, Reuse and Reduce; Enforce the use of the composting method for organic materials and the land-filling that is done at the Naboro Land field. These are the easiest and the most reliable ways to proper disposal of waste.

KFB’s main aim to reduce waste is the focus on education, awareness of waste issues and promotion of sensible, sustainable alternatives that give consumers of all ages the knowledge they need to make informed choices and take personal action. Waste reduction is everybody’s responsibility and people who run away from responsibilities are not good citizens of this country.
